I've replaced the fuel filter, air filter and can only believe its the fuel pump.. its a real pain to get it in to the local shop with the restrictions. Been many years since I've had to deal with small engine

Not your fuel pump. Low speed metering circuit in carb is plugged. Engine is bouncing on the high speed circuit. Need to throughly clean the carb.
