Not getting fuel to carb. Replaced fuel pump. If I give it fuel (from a jar) just before the pump and turn it over with line off on opposite side of pump, it works. If I add the 2 feet of line that takes it to the tank, nothing. Line not clogged. Valve not clogged. No fuel filter. PTO clutch is off. 80's era JD 160.

Take the fuel line off the carb and turn the engine over, if gas comes out of the pump it is working, if not, bad pump. If it works, then it makes sense it should feed the carb.

Works with a short hose, does not with a long hose. Fuel pump is new.
