Fuel injection

some time ago I read in a news article that someone had designed a carbon fiber replacement carburetor that could make small engines a fuel injected engine. I thought at the time that this would be a great way go, replace the carburetor when it gets ruined by the corn syrup we are forced to endure in our gasoline. I did not save the article because I was sure we would see something about it by now.

All I can really remember is that this unit would cut small engine emissions and was to be in-expensive. A replacement Carburetor is running well over a Hundred dollars and this one was supposed to sell for about half this cost.

If any one knows about this item I would appreciate hearing about it. Or, where are the brainy guys that can come up with such a fix.

With fuel injection of any kind, the fuel must be under pressure and that requires a pump. With the simplicity of a carburetor, I seriously doubt ANY fuel injection system would be cheaper than just fixing the Carb. I have never heard of what you speak of but anything is possible if cost is no object.

Thank you, I had forgotten that Fuel Injection required pressure to operate.

I have five small engines that over the years have became victims of Ethanol and because of the cost of replacing the Carb I have not tried to repair them. All are 5 to 7 HP. I replaced the oil and set them up for storage when a simple cleaning would not do the trick. All of the motors that I have not repaired with a kit require a new Carburetor because of corrosion damage.

Is there a place to purchase Carb's that the cost is not prohibitive? Any direction would be greatly appreciated. I have searched the Internet but I just do not want to pay the prices offered.

Fuel injection also requires an electronic management system... a computer. At least every engine I've ever owned required one, along with sensors (air flow meter or mass air flow sensor in the air intake & cam/crank sensors at the very least) for input to keep the a/f ratio and timing correct. Even the old TBI systems required those things. I can't see that happening on a trimmer.

so a simple "primer" bulb on a pushmower would result in a long thread? You have all of the sudden became 'knowledgeable"
all of the sudden!!!!!

Like I said before, I have seen/dealt with your kind for years.....It is almost spring.... Get a life, and stop making the guys around here jump through your silly little hoops.

Please move on....

You're losing Fish... badly. A shame you can't see it. That's the last time you merit a response. It's one thing to trash my threads with your bullshit but I'm going to show some respect to the other members here and not be a part of it.

Kohler has an EFI system which you might find interesting. Check out this jig!

I hope we have some welders here who can compare those to say... a Lincoln. I think even I can see the benefits it would have in a generator.
Next thing you know they'll have turbocharged versions ;)
