Replaced carb on FS80R with an Amazon unit. Started right up and seems to have great power. Idles OK except for the "tinny", "ting-ting" sound I hear. I thought it was some loose metal part, but It goes away with full throttle.
Worried it might be detonation or something bad.
Fresh 80 octane with Stihl synthetic at 50:1. Very recent spark plug.
80 octane? Is that a typo? Must be some US Army fuel LOL. Tinging sound might be the clutch for the driveshaft. Or the revs make the engine so loud you can't hear it??

Yeah, change your idle speed a tad, it should go away.

Joea, while the trimmer is making that noise, slowly pull the starting cord about 2inches - maybe a little more or less and hold it there. Does it go away?
