@StarTech @Fish thank you and everyone else for the insight, finally have had some drier days to work on it. We ended going with advice and sourcing a new machine and hope to use this as a back up. I rebuilt the carb with the Proline OEM Stihl carb rebuild kit, used all the parts in the kit, reinstalled carb and found what I hope is the leak on the main fuel line coming out the back of the carb diagonally down to the engine block. It felt loose more so on the back of the carb side vs engine side, and my guess is fuel would run down the line and build up and create the mess.
New air filter, new spark plug, new fuel line, new fuel filter, inspected all other fuel lines, seem ok.
Adjusted the rocker valves with the Stihl gap tool thin piece with the pointer on it.
This is where I may have gone bad and could use some advice.
After adjusting the rocker valves, the machine will restart well with the choke on, runs great sounds great.
When I hit the trigger the release the choke and hit the gas, gas will go full throttle for a second, when release the trigger idles down to stopping, will not idle.
Haven’t read the service manual yet, but I’m wondering if the adjustment I made to rocker valves could cause the machine to not idle?
The service manual is pushing my technical acumen, it was very helpful for the carb rebuild, I probably had to read it 10x more than the average joe :)

Also, anyone have tips on how to clean around the engine with the covers off to remove all the oil that sticks after the gas has evaporated? Using the machine for so long with a fuel leak was bad idea, left a oily mess around alot of the engine.

Thinking automotive engine cleaner may be too abrasive or possibly damage the electrical parts?

Any tips on the question would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
