So I have an FS91R trimmer. the clamp is broke that holds the shaft onto the motor head. It spins now when running it.
I bought the clamp but cant seem to figure out how to remove it. I found nothing on the stihl site.
Anyone have a solution???

  • First remove the drive shaft assy.
  • Trigger handle must be loosen so it slides off.
  • Remove the clutch cover (fan housing) assy
  • Now disassemble the cover by removing item 14.
  • Then item 11 can be removed along with the rubber bushing item 10.
  • Item may or not come out separately.
  • It will be difficult as the rubber will be stuck.
From the service manual.

That is awesome thanks. How does one remove the rubber and clamp without the $200 puller?
Is it possible to soak the rubber with a soap and tap out from the back?

I only changed out one these clamps and honestly I don't how I removed it without the puller but I did.

I probably used the small two puller I have here with in house made push rod but that was three years ago. Way too many machines since then have been through my shop.

Penetrating oil would work better on getting the rubber to slide out and of course must be cleaned off things afterwards.

Those housings are a good seller for me.
