The engine is welded to the frame from the factory. It is 40+ years old and still running. I guess they weren't wrong.

Worked on an Allis Chalmers a few years ago which had a Briggs engine in it. Had the front axle pivot molded as part of the oil pan.

Strange how they did things back in the day. I have a 1957 Locke Tri-plex in the barn and it has a 8hp Briggs and the sump is odd cast and part of the frame.
