First oil change?

I have a new Cub Cadet 42 inch lawn tractor with a Kothler Vtwin and the first oil and filter change is listed at 50 hours. I have a 1/2 acre lot so I might go all summer until I reach 50 hours.

Should I follow this recommendation?

Change at 50 hours or end of season which ever comes first.

I change oil and filter at 5 then follow 50 hours or end of the season.

The 5 hour oil change has been eliminated from the service interval on engines with oil filters. They claim the filter will catch the break in debris, and therefore no need to change at 5 hours any more.

That sound reasonable enough.

Makes sense about the elimination, my 2014 Toro listed 1st oil change for 10 hours, so I did that & the filter too.

I never go longer than 1 year on oil & filter change, no matter how little the hours of usage.

Last year we had drought, so I only put on 19 hours. But still did regular service, at end of year.

Oil and filter is Cheap! Do the change at 5 and check the colour at 25 and Redo if you feel it is black, then again at 50! This is break in time, do not make this an expensive pain in the but of buying another unit. My last car lasted till 722,000, now buying a new car is expensive. Take the time, it is only $.
