Ferris IS1500 STEERING QUESTION

I used to have a gravely ztr, and loved it. On the gravely when mowing if I let go of the handle bars it would stop. On the Ferris when mowing if I let go it keeps going and very slowly slows down. Is this normal? Any way to make it go to the neutral option when not holding forward? I don't feel safe letting my boys use it as it is.
