I ran into this on Craigslist:

2012 FERRIS IS-500, 44"deck, 344 hrs - $2300

there isn't a whole lot of information beyond that. I have 15+ acres, but I only mow 2-3 acres of it. Right now I am using a self-propelled push mower, it takes me about 5-6 hours over two days - so it would be nice to get a ZTR.

Can anyone tell me if this is a fair price for this mower - anything about Ferris mowers in general, etc.

We also have a LOT of Exmark dealers in the area - don't know anything about Exmark mowers.

And the local hardware store has a Bobcat Fastcat RZ (52" deck, 26hp B&S engine, 254 hrs) for $3500. Would love to hear opinions on that mower as well.

Thanks for any advice.

All three brands make quality mowers. If the ferries is in good running condition and was maintained properly that is a fair price. A 44" is500. It cost between $4500 and $5000 new. The Price on the fastcat rz seems a little high to me. They also cost between $4500 and $5000 new. Either one would handle your property easily. The 52" fastcat would mow your property in less time, but the is500 will ride better. If you want to look into exmark then a 48" pioneer e series would be comparable to the two mowers you mentioned. They are a little pricey though. A new one will run close to $6k. All are very good mowers. Dealer quality should also weigh into your decision.
