No speed sensor. Injectors are controlled thru the ground circuit of the ignition coils. Check for continuity of the ground wires to the coils and good connection at the coils. Check the connector at the control unit mounted on the radiator. Make sure there isn't any corrosion or damaged pins.

Wiring from coils to ECU checkout good. Have tested ECU on on other unit, works fine. discoed kill wire to ignition, tested injectors, they work. This one has me stumped. Starts on either, so coils are working.
Seriously. We don't know your capabilities. As @StarTech wrote, you are missing something or something isn't as you are reporting. What do you have for fuel pressure?

Over 30 years in the mower business, Have my own shop. Usually no problems trouble shooting problems. Have the inter connect for trouble shooting this type of engine. this one has me stumped. Starting to think something with the coils
I respect that. Lets back up. You confirmed earlier that the engine will run on either cylinder. Is this only with starting fluid? Do you have a fuel pressure gauge?

I leaning toward a wiring problem but I ma not there to put my hands on it.
