I've had my Fasttrak for about three years now and just done routine maintenance. Had an oil sending unit go bad, and it was an easy install.
But tonite I was mowing my 1 acre lot and noticed a whining coming when I had the blades engaged. It changed in pitch with the increase / decrease in RPM, but did not decrease.
I do not know of any fluids that can be checked other than engine oil, which is fine. Checked the belts and they are relatively clear. I clean them out after each use. Checked under deck, nothing obstructing blade function.
Has anyone else experienced this issue, and how did you fix it? FYI, my engine is Kohler Courage 17.
Thx in advance.

Have you greased the blade spindles? Spindles and pulley bearings will do that as they start to dry out.
My new Fastrak doesn't have zerks its a sealed unit. I'd check belt tensioner or jack up the deck loosen the belt and turn each spindle by hand. My dealer told me today the spindles are easily repaired using napa bearings he said 8.00. As long as you catch it early enough, but I seriously doubt its bearings already. He told me he has over 200 units in the field and he has replaced about three spindle bearing sets on the sealed units. -since 02' ...
But its possible I guess. Check blades too , I've seen twine wind on them or plastic or even vines and they will whine till they break off.
