has problem starting when hot, have to wait till cools down and starts right up

Manuals
look at troubleshooting section in service manual for your mower. Post engine manufacturer as well as all numbers from engine data plate.

locate your engine

Could be a few things. My first thought is the valve lash needs to be set. Do it on a cold engine.

Rivets
My first check would be to check for spark when the engine is hot. Thinking that the coil is breaking down and you have either a hot short or open. Section 10 of this manual may help you.
