F-Engine Muffler Type

I'm replacing the F engine on a 7268. One engine has the non-enclosed muffler and the other has the enclosed one (you know - the one we cook outside to de-carbon). I'm leaning towards the enclosed one to minimize heat transfer and it just looks like it would be quieter. Anyone have a good reason to prefer one type over the other?
