My Turf Ranger blew the transaxle shaft seal. I am told it is and Eaton 851 trans axle and that they cannot be repaired. Any idea on finding a used one or if it can be fixed. Love the mower.

If it is an Eaton 851 it was repairable back in '99. The problem si where to find their PN 103960 seal. Now the seal have the specs on i but to get to it you must remove the axle housing so you can remove the bearing in front of the seal. This not a job for a DIYer to attempt as there several other parts involved in the axle housing that must put in the correct order. I have ever took one these apart yet. The parts I see on the IPL may just stay in place as axle housing is removed, just don't know for sure.

I had a boss that used to say, "Time to take the gas cap off and put it on a new one !"

This should give you an idea what you in for. Item 45 is your seal. Item 44 is the ball bearing that got to be removed before the seal can be removed.
