My Exmark Quest ZTR with 52" deck and 24hp Briggs & Stratton is using about 4 ozs of oil per hour. I bought it new in 2007 and it just turned 400 hours. It has been maintained per the manuals. Prior years oil use was about 2 ozs per hour, last year almost 4 ozs and this season a solid 4 ozs per hour. It takes 8 ozs to go from add to full on the dipstick. No apparent leaks or smoke. Left cylinder compression is 150# and the right is 165#. There was some oil in the valve covers, maybe 3 or 4 tablespoons each.
Engine model is 44M777, Type 0118 E1, Code 070109YG.
Is there a history with this engine? I'm in central Wisconsin so high heat is not an issue. Any help would be appreciated.
