Have an Exmark Metro Model M36-12.5K5 with a Kawasaki FB460V-MS14 engine.
Ran out of gas last year while mowing. Put in fresh fuel and it ran for about 5-10 minutes before it started sputtering and then died.
Now difficult to start. When it does, it only runs for about 10 seconds or so before it dies.
I replaced the fuel filter, cleaned out the fuel tank and checked the fuel line and shut-off valve. Spark plug looked (and tested) okay, but I replaced it anyway.
I pulled the carburetor and expected to find sediment or varnish, but it looked fine. I cleaned it as best I could anyway.
Compression was within specs. The fact that it starts means it has spark.
This leads me back to a fuel issue. Aside from taking apart the carb again, is there anything else I’m missing?
