I have an exmark lazer z with a kohler command 18 pro and 48 inch cut. The head-gasket blew the other day and I replaced it today. Also the rocker screw had backed out and the push rod was disconnected. I unlocked the hydros to move it and got it running today. Now the hydro screws are turned all the way clockwise but it will still roll. The fluid is slightly under the cold level but everything was working normal before now. Note: I did try to turn the hydros closed with the motor running, would this have caused a problem. What could it be? Also, I have heard that compression on the kohler command is really higher than stated on the compression tester. Is this true or false. My compression is 90....please help me debunk or verify the truth on this. do Hydraulic valves cause this or is it utterly false.

You need to purge the air out of the hydraulic system. To do this, raise the drive wheels off the ground, start the engine and push both drive lever controls forward. this will circulate the hydro fluid and purge the air out.
