I have a briggs ohv engine on a rear engine rider only 3 years old. and it won't start, won't even try. cleaned the carb checked for fire. got good fire and its getting fuel because the plug gets wet. it almost seems like it is out of time, so I pulled the flywheel to check the key. it wasn't shered but is was alfuly thin. is I tried an old key I had laying around, but it still won't start. even with starter fluid. what am I missing.

Check the valve clearance. You may have a sticking intake valve that does not close properly.

I know that you checked the fire. Did you check the plug to see if its firing or only to see if you are getting fire to the plug? Hope you get it going.

good deal, then I think Rivets is correct with checking valves. If you have fire and fuel something is not sealing up.
