I have a 17.5 Briggs and Stratton engine that will turn over with the spark plug out. If I put in spark plug it will not turn over. I have tried new plug, that did not work. Any ideas?

Do you mean turn over by hand on the flywheel, or with the key..?? if it's turning over (cranking) with the key fairly quick, with the plug out, try adjusting the valves, keep us posted ........ be sure the battery is charged !
