Engine swap with electrical issues

I have a cub cadet lt 1050 with a blown command pro 26, cv730 kohler. I bought a sv715-0010 (22hp) kohler from a surplus center. Everything is the same and it bolted up with no problems, until i tried to hook up the battery.As soon as i touched the positive termanal to the battery the starter turned on. The wiring connectors are both the same but the old engine cv730 had six wires and the new engine sv715 only has five. Does anyone know how to figure out how to wire this thing? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Welcome to the Forum!.. I dont know much about Cub wiring but I bet someone can help you.

I believe your old engine has a solenoid shift starter, which means the start solenoid is mounted to the starter. Your new engine has an inertia drive starter, which means you will need to wire in a starter solenoid between the starter and the positive battery cable to get it to work correctly.

So after trying to figure out how to wire this thing, and a bunch of "f " bombs i realized that both engines are almost identical. I removed both covers,flywheels,starters and ignition and charging crap . There was only a one wire difference and that was for what i'm assuming was a low oil or low pressure switch. So i removed the wiring from each motor and switched them. Started right up and runs mint. MAJOR HAPPY DANCE

So i put the deck back on this thing and hit the switch and it........stalls out. IT needs a frickn pto and a belt. Does anyone know where i can get one CHEAP??? The part #cub 917-04174a mtd# 717-04174a I have so much money into this thing i could have bought a new one... well, almost. The best price so far is ebay 179. I was also wondering if these things can be rebuilt? Is there a kit ?

At first the engine speed wasnt fast enough to engage the deck, it would just stall. So while holding the govenor to raise rpm i hit the switch and it worked,for a while but that was the only way to engage the deck. So i pulled the belt, greased the spindles, checked to make sure everything was turning free and smooth and everything with the deck seems ok . So i put the belt back on and tried it again...same thing , except the belt started smoking. I'm assuming the clutch is starting to sieze. I dont know what else it could be, the deck seems fine. Any Ideas ?

Take the belt back off and then turn the clutch on, if you still have smoke from the clutch take that off and test it.

I took the belt off and turned the switch of and on and it works fine...no change in engine speed. So i took the belt off the deck and the spindles arent as smooth as i thought. I dont know what else it could be so i'm ordering spindles for it... ebay for under 100 for 3 .
