hi all , newbie here
i have a `1995 white L15 lawn rider with a b & s
15.5 hp non twin vanguard engine and walbro carb
i read these are very good motors
i,m going to part her out due to a bad tranny and i think shes too old to repair
i,m wondering if i can use my motor on a different machine
i see newer riders with bad motors all the time for sale cheap
any riders to recommend or stay away from?
i,m a john deere fan and hate craftsman and MTD made machines
i also dont like rear engine riders
thanks

Unless you know how to cross reference engines and have knowledge about electricity it is difficult to swap engines. Yes I can and is done by many people, myself included, but it is not as simple as unbolting one engine and bolting in another one.

You shouldn't have any problems as long as you put on a rider that had single cyl engine. Wiring connectors aren't always the same so you may need to splice. The muffler is another key, make sure muffler setup is the same. Also make sure the pulley is the same size. If you can get those things worked out you will be fine.
