Engine engine ser number location

have an 82 317, just looking to find out where to look for the engine serial number without tearing all the side panels off, thanks, steveO

It should be easily seen on a black and silver tag on the shroud.

thought so too, think it may be old enough to have disappeared, thanks. was wondering if the location might have been on the top of the engine originally...

Look on the side of the shroud, or tell us the name of the engine, all have different locations.
