We have an old Toro 38010 snow blower. Supposedly still works but I need to replace the fuel line. In the event this is worn out, over 30 years old, I would like to see if I can fit a new/used engine to it.

Is there any way to know what I need to look for in a replacement motor? I can't find any shaft and mounting measurements for this old motor online (HS40-55513G). Will I have to pull the motor off and measure, or is it pretty standard measurements for motors this size, even today?

Thanks,
Matt

Measure the diameter of the outboard shaft. The length and key way size as well.

This is in addition to motor mount pattern and clearances around the engine.
