G'day All- i have a question about oil and the exhaust. I use a Husky skid steer. I want to access under the deck without removing it . By raising the front am I likely to risk sump oil flowing into the exhaust. I read something like this somewhere. Would this ocur? is there an easy way to access under the deck without removing it ?(Ramps not available) Thanks in advance.

What model?

Raising with a come along or similar from a sturdy tree branch would be easy enough, but don't try to stand it straight up. Usually about 2 foot is enough for access to the blades for changing.

Harbor freight sells mower jacks cheap enough that it makes it an investment.

Jack the front a little and put something (bricks) under the wheels , then do the rear , and repeat front and rear until you get it high enough

This is what I was thinking.

Need to clarify these one to me. Are talking about a Zero Turn Mower (ZTR) or Skid Steer loader style? Please post a picture or model number.

If thinking about the HFT mower lifts I would the 750 lbs lift version if you have ZTR. Even then the ATV lift H needs to removed from the jack as if interferes with some decks. Even then some CC mowers have ramped up on 2X boards some the decks clears the jack foot.

Just as a side note for reference. The 750 lbs atv/mower lift is only rated for 500 lbs as a mower lift.

Understood. But considering the lift point of both the ATVs and mowers I would think it much closer to 750. I have used it lifting the front ends of most commercial ZTRs here especially the JD Z900 series with the Seven Iron decks. Much better rating than the low end rider lift that HFT sells. Just as I said the ATV H needs to be removed if use it to lift many of the Riders and ZTRs. It just interferes with accessing The PTO area of riders. Also can prevent some mowers from fully seating in the lift arm cradles.

The only Z900 Series I haven't lifted is the one with the 72" deck and that is only because the customer brought that mower in without the deck. He had to remove the deck so he could load it on his trailer. Boy they to wheelies without the deck.

One other note when using these lifts is the drive must be in neutral and the brakes released or the wheels may become un-seated from the cradles. Also make sure the safety locks are active just in case a jack failure.

The jack really could use some spring loaded steel rollers if using as an ATV lift so you can push it under the ATV middle section. Otherwise it works fine as a mower lift lifting the front or rear of the ATVs.
