I have been given a 126T02-0336 side valve engine to fix. It won't start or even fire. I have a good spark, have cleaned the carb several times, removed the head and valves, ground exhaust valve to 10thou clearance. A compression check gives about 60psi.
When I crank it large amounts of blue smoke come from the carb and the breather but very little from the exhaust. I have removed the exhaust, thinking it could be blocked but still very little smoke from exhaust.
I have had the mower on its side which might explain the smoke from intake side but the engine just won't fire. I have a new spark plug which doesn't appear to be getting wet. That suggested a fuel problem so I sprayed carb cleaner into the intake to see if I could get it to fire. No !
The only thing I can think of now is that the valves are opening/closing at the wrong time so fuel isn't getting sucked in or compressed. Is it possible for the cam to move out of alignment on these engines ? or any other tips please?
