I am trying to help out my 80 y/o grandfather with his JD L130. He doesnt have the financial means to have it serviced by JD shop primarily bc they tend to be very expensive. I believe the problem to be a wiring issue with wires going to electromagnetic clutch. After I "restored" wiring that got wrapped around the clutch, the mower started and I engaged the blades....they engaged for approx 3-5 seconds before the clutch began to spin and wrapped wires again. What is likely wrong with the mower?

You may have a bad bearing, if so replace the bearing or the clutch.
There is an Z shaped piece of metal that bolts to the left frame rail about half an inch wide that prevents the clutch from spinning the electric coil. It has a habit of wearing through at the point that the finger sticks through the slot on the electric clutch, and without that STOP the whole clutch will spin, and either wrap the wires, or pull the wires out of the clutch.
