i've got a craftsman 42" mower(model 917.273764). it's just started to cut off when a load is put on it. the engine starts and runs great, it will idle and rev up like normal, but when you try to move it or engage the mower blades, it dies until you push in the clutch or disengage the blades, the the engine picks back up and runs normally. i'm wondering if one of the safety switches could be bad. any ideas? thanks in advance for any help.

rb, Recently there have been several problems like yours. Try reviewing recent posts. Classic is fuel starvation . Normally the carb will enrich the engine as the carb butterfly is opened. If the engine can only get idle fuel mixture it will die. Plugged main jet, float /needle, fuel filter, plugged gas line, fuel cap can't breathe.... Others will respond, I'm sure
