electric power tools on push mowers

I recenly fried two coils, mower ran fine then I sharpened the blade using an electric grinder while blade was still on the mower. Now there is no spark. I was hoping someone could shed some light on this issue. and in the future if i unplug the plug wire will i still harm the coil. I know i should take the blade off but if i use an electric impact to do that would i again harm the coil. Im hoping someone could give a theory of what causes this.

Not sure "how" you sharpened the blade while it was still on because the part that is sharpened, is the upper part of the blade. As for your spark. no clue.
