Echo string trimmer Cutting Head

Hi all , I have an Echo I think GT1100 string trimmer. Runs well and always has. My question is about the cutting head. Or cutting heads in general. Mine is the type where you insert a 6-8 inch piece of string and it is held in like a Chinese finger type situation. I like it .Very simple. And it works and has for years.
I have an option to get a Stihl battery trimmer at a discounted price (I know a guy). I watched the video on how to rewind the cutting head with string. I think I have to have a Phd in mechanics and be part rocket scientist. Too many moving parts and too much room for error. The Chinese finger style is just so simple.
Only reason for a possible switch in trimmers is noise. I am sick of my echo screaming in my ears. even with plugs.
Can you guys pipe in and comment on the different brands of trimmers and their cutting heads? Good bad or indifferent. Thanks , Matt.
