Well I just purchased a brand-new Echo and at darn neer $300 id like to protect my investment!

Besides scheduled maintenance air/fuel filter, lubrication and what not. The owners manual says not store the unit with fuel in the tank! To further complicate this I've read that I should also run the catborator Dry!

My guess is this is do to the ethanol content in fuel!
I've looked around and can't find any stations in my area with methanol free fuel!

So I guess my question is it really necessary to empty tank and run all the fuel out?

Also is it better to hang this unit motor down or motor up! My guess is motor down!

I am open to any advice for careing for maintaing and preventive maintenance on my new machine?

My shop fixes 1,500 machines in a year from gas damaged issues . Weed wackers , saws, tractors you name it . Use your machine . Pour the gas back into your gas can - start your machine and run it until the carb bowl is empty .
Next week repeat & enjoy maintenance free use

Appreciate the reply! Now if I found a ethanol free fuel supply does this make any difference? As my father in law swears it does! Which I could understand why!

But this alone wouldn't make safe to store units with fuel in them! Right?

Would it be a better fuel source in general?

I have no problem draining fuel after use & running the carb dry!

Thanks again. Really just want to protect my investment! I see this unit getting a lot of work. As I already have two attachments and see two more in the near future!

It depends on what your definition of storing the unit is. The owners manual says not store the unit with fuel in the tank, I believe they're talking about storing the unit for weeks or months without use then yes remove the fuel and run the carburetor dry. It has nothing to do with using ethanol gas, the unit is built to run on ethanol gas. You can leave the gas in the tank, it will not hurt a thing unless it's left for a log period of time without use.
Do the scheduled maintenance, air/fuel filter, lubrication, cleaning and the occasional spark plug is about all you can do, anything else like High, Low and Idle speed adjustments needs to be done at the place you purchased the unit.
