I have a quick question about my PAS-225 that I picked up used on eBay. I bought it described as "Starts but won't run."
Easy fix. I Cleaned and re-gapped the plug and started it up. Ran great but I couldn't get on it for a while because it was missing the engine cover (didn't want it to overheat.) Fast forward a couple days when I finally got the engine cover installed and ran the thing hard once I warmed it up. Definitely bogged down at WOT. So I took the carb apart and cleaned the main jet. Runs phenomenal now. Has good power and runs as well as my 2015 SRM-225. This PAS is a '13 model btw.
Anyways, my question is related to the upper driveshaft. Is there a washer or some sort of lock that keeps the driveshaft in the pipe? When I detach the lower attachment the driveshaft falls out. I took the coupler off and cleaned everything out and re-greased it, then installed the driveshaft first, followed but the coupler and it still fell out. When I look at parts diagrams there are pictures of a washer (I think it would be digram part #11) but I am not sure if this goes on the inside of the coupler or what? It runs great and the attachment (edger) works well. I just don't like the fact that the driveshaft comes out every time I take the attachment off.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated. I have just recently started completing all of my own maintenance.

Does the driveshaft have a notch in it on either end?
can you elaborate a little? one end is square for the clutch and the other end has the plastic adapter for the attachment shaft to plug into to.

Maybe I should have said grove. If it is to be held in place with something other than friction then I would think it would have a grove all the way around it for something to grab onto. Push in until it clicks.

Not that I see. It looks like the coupler is supposed to hold it in place as the manual states to take it off in order to pull the driveshaft out for lubrication.
