My E110 throttle lever sticks in high speed and won't return to idle.
Starts and runs OK (choke works) but just won't idle down.
What is most likely cause? Throttle cable or something else?
Inspect cable from dash, behind dash to engine. Is cable pinched, kinked, loose or need to be sprayed with lubricating oil? Is cable chaffing or does it need to be replaced?
Thanks for your input.
I went and checked for kinks, corrosion etc. Found nothing apparent.
I purchased new throttle control, installed and works fine.
I dismantled the old one and could not see what the problem was. Put it back together
and it works fine. Must have needed cleaning/lubrication, but no apparent way to do it on the machine
Good job, for your curiosity you deserve a pat on the back. Now you have a spare throttle cable. Well done, thanks for sharing information on repair. Recently my hour meter stopped working & screen was blank. My son disconnected battery ground cable & unplugged hour meter from harness. He removed meter from dash & used q-tips to clean dirt etc. from backside of hour meter & circuit board. He then sprayed CRC Electrical cleaner into hour meter & six plug wire harness, cleaner is designed to dry out quickly. He then applied Silicone Dielectric Grease to six tabs at backside of hour meter, reinstalled in dash & attached plug & negative cable to battery, hour meter was back in business.
