Long before air and electric impacts were invented there were mechanics that knew how to impact a nut in instances like you are experiencing.
I don't give away many of my secrets  but I feel the need at times when someone needing to repair a mower asks for help.
To Red Neck Impact - that nut you place your 15/16" box wrench on it and get the neighborhood kid to hold it in place so you can take a Mickey Mantle swing at it with a 2x4 about 2 ft. long. If it's a kid you like get him another 2x4 to hold the wrench down on the nut by pushing the end down on the nut/shaft.
If you don't have a neighbor kid, the wrench can be made to remain in place for impacting by shimming it with a cereal box top or other suitable household supplies etc.
If you have a cycle helmet with a face shield and an athletic cup I suggest wearing them.
I guarantee it will break free. I've never had this method fail. It even works on blade nuts and nuts on top of jack shaft sheaves.
