I'm working on my first duraforce LB and hope someone can tell me if the exhaust plate that covers and holds the U shape pipe is supposed to have a gasket. Mine has what looks like a silicone bead applied around the perimeter. Was this standard from the factory? I also noticed a lot of thick oil had collected in that chamber, I'm assuming over time it just needs to cleaned? This mower was definitely neglected.
My Duraforce had raw gas in that chamber, a sign the needle and seat in the carb were leaking. I replace the carb needle and seat and used high temperature silicone caulk to seal that plate. The owners manual says to use the high temp caulk. I also bought a fuel shutoff valve to stop the fuel as added insurance.
Awesome! Thanks for the info, it's a commercial with a shutoff valve so that should help but I've never seen it run. I'll have to get some high temp silicone / gasket sealant.
