Drive pulley

I have a hustler model 926980 (circa 2004 but runs great). I just got a replacement drive belt pulley part number 770842. It does not fit. The shaft is 1.00 in. The inner diameter of the drive pulley is 0.96 that's 40 thousandths smaller. Anyone else found this problem? Did Hustler make the drive shaft smaller or is this just a case of China tolerances?

I would call technical support for the manufacturer. Sometimes there are technical bulletins that say things like, "If part #XYZ is replaced, part #123 also has to be replaced due to changes in assembly." The way around that is find a good used part that has the original design.

what is the first 4 digits of the serial number? As if before 1011 the IPL is calling a 4-1/2 Inch Dia 1 1/8 Inch Bore Steel V-Groove Pulley for the motion drive.

Now 770842 is a 60"deck drive pulley. Now if you order an after market part that maybe the problem. I have ran into that problem on some pulleys being out of spec.

those numbers just jumped out at me. A 25 MM metric shaft is slightly smaller than a 1-inch shaft (25.4 MM). 25 MM is .9843".
