Drive Idler Arm

I have a 36 ZCat w/750 hrs. on it. Idler arm is vibrating all over the place. I replaced the two bearings in the arm (they were bad) but its still vibrating a little. While changing the bearings I noticed that on both ends of where the tensioning spring attaches there is ware (the sleeve on the arm and the bolt on the frame). I'm thinking I should replace those parts and get a new spring also.

Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated !

Thanks

it probably wouldn't hurt to at least replace the spring if the hooks are worn, and the arm depending on amount of wear. the vibration could be coming from the belt also.

When you get the new parts installed that stop the flopping around syndrome determine a way to add a couple of drops of bar and chain oil to those parts that wear.

So after replacing those parts it is a little better, but still vibrating more than it should - I have one more pulley to switch out.

I'm also wondering if air can get into the pumps and cause a problem like this ? I did take a hose off the pump to get better access while replacing the parts for the idler arm ? If so, how do you bleed the air out ?

Thanks for your advice !

Well how I have found the problem - the mower came to a compete stop today and the engine stalled. Took a look underneath and the oil was pouring out of one of the pumps. Hopefully I didn't toast anything else !

Live and Learn I guess
