I have a tire that needs repair. Valve stem is broken. Took the entire wheel to a shop to see about getting it fixed. Was told they don't work on DR mowers. Two shops said the same on the phone. It's just a wheel and tire. It could be from any mower. What am I missing? Is this a matter of being an authorized repair shop or something?

Try a local tire shop, not a power equipment shop. The local tire shop did my ATV tires for me for a very reasonable price.
I suspect it is because some of those small tires don't like to reseat on the bead after being broken down. Hard to get reinflated. Dr doesn't even require you to be an authorized repair center to do warranty. if you are competent enough to repair it yourself, they will ship the warranty parts to you for free. Engine do require being done by an authorized engine repair center.
I am an DR Power authorized service center so I should know.
