Have a Briggs DOV engine on a Victa. This thing won't start. I've cleaned the carb with ultra sonic cleaner. Replaced spark plug. Re gaped the coil thingy, adjusted valve lash to spec. Replaced air filter. The only time I can get this to start is with a spray of carb cleaner. The mower runs fine. I've checked the flywheel and key, all ok. It seems like there is no fuel being delivered to start the engine? When I spray carb cleaner down the intake, the mower starts and runs fine. But with a normal pull, no go. What could it be?, will have to pay for a technician. I think maybe the float is playing up and not letting fuel through, but why would it run fine once started. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks guy, keep tuned.

You have a Chinese built B&S engine. They are becoming more common these days.

The problem is likely in the fuel connection at the tank. In these they have been installing a very tiny screen filter inserted into fuel tank line nipple.

Most of the time I remove that tiny filter, then cut or replace the fuel line and insert a small pancake fuel filter to trap any sediment that might get in the fuel tank.

It was a very poor engineering design to use these tiny sediment filters. I've fixed quite a few of them this spring.
