Don't crank

I can't get spark through the plug, hook up test light to plug wire and it blinks okay.
When I put the plug in the plug wire it doesn't spark, is it supposed to?
Thanks for any info. This is on my Murray mower.

Thanks mechanic man, I did that, looked all over the manual and couldn't find solution to my problem. Is there any where else I can go?
Thanks again

Clarify a bit. The model number doesn't look right, first off. Read it again.

28a707? or 31a707?

When you turn the key to "crank", does it crank and not start?

Or have you got it "cranking" but not "starting".???

It's cranking and I have fire from the coil with a test light when I turn it over but when I put the plug in the plug wire I get no fire from it. I checked again and it is a21a707

You are grounding the plug, correct? If you are then have you replaced spark plug?

Maybe I'm not grounding it properly, I will try again in the morning, I'm done for today.
I thank you for all your help check back sometime tomorrow and I will let you know what happens.
I did try more than 1 plug.

Yeah, just trying to get us all on the same terminology, as the repair/fix is likely an easy one.
