I started a post yesterday about a Dixon with a Kohler Courage engine. Since then, I have read a lot of negative opinions of the courage engine and have been checking around to see what else is available. I have found a very similar mower for a similar price that has the Briggs & Stratton 26hp engine in it. Does anyone have an opinion if this is a superior engine over the Kohler courage 24 hp. All information or opinions are appreciated!

Look, most of the negativity was toward the single cylinder engines which I think they have fixed. I called 2 different dealers before I bought and neither of them had anything bad to say about the Courage Twin Cylinder engine. It's up to you but they are members here that have put a lot of hours on the Courage engine. Heck, to me if you compare the Briggs problems they seem to have more than any but that just my opinion I guess.
Talk to some dealers and see what they have to say and go from there. I now have 24 trouble hours on my engine and it is a power house, at least it's a lot different than my Twin Briggs 16.5 hp engine.

Thanks for the info TnHusky. That put things into perspective. I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the Dixon with the 24 courage. Planning for frequent oil and air filter changes and hopefully no major issues ;-)
