Diesel in Gas mower! Help!

-SCAG tiger cub mower (not sure on year as it is neighbors mower & not mine)

-Both fuel tanks were practically dry. About a gallon (maybe a little less) of diesel was put (stupid accident) into the RH tank. :frown:

-This morning, i told my neighbor lets just bring it straight to the shop & I will pay for everything to be done professionally.

-Neighbor called her shop, they told her if it is having no problem running/starting to try and siphon out what you can and then just let it burn the rest of the diesel until it is empty, once it runs out of gas fill with premium gas & go!

----

I siphoned out what I could & then let it run. Very smokey, after a while it finally appeared to have ran out of fuel & stopped. Started it up again & it ran a few minutes more & stopped again. Appeared to be dry as a bone.

Filled w/ premium gas & now it does not want to start. It is also not smoking at all when trying to start like it was earlier.

----

Am I screwed? Did I screw it all up or does it most likely just need to clean or get a new spark plug, air filter, & clean the carburetor? I like to tinker around but also admit I am not the most mechanically inclined person. Worst part is that I have to fly out of town at 6am tomorrow for a funeral & will be gone for a week.

Thinking of trying a mobile mechanic & see if someone can come out today/tomorrow & take care of it.

Any advice, tips, help, encouragement appreciated.

Thank you!

Fill the R/H tank with gasoline, remove the fuel hose from the carb and let some fuel drain out, change the fuel filter. Find the fuel shut off solenoid on the carb, remove it, drain the carb, reinstall the solenoid.
Change the spark plugs, run the engine.
