Hi;

I just purchased a new Cub Cadet LTX1042KW from a local dealer and find that the max cutting height is 3.5 inches. I have a fescue lawn that I would like at 4 inches for the summer months with 4.5 as an option if it ever gets ahead of me.

The deck is level and max height is limited by a metal bump stop to protect the belts from interference if I were to make any modifications to raise it higher. The dealer and the manufacturer say I should be happy with 3.5 inches but I'm not.

So with the frame preventing raising the deck any higher, I'm thinking my only options are: taller tires (hate the additional expense and don't know which ones), lift kit (not likely and the axle mounts would not allow anyway), blades that somehow mount higher within the deck (factory is just about level with the bottom of the deck).

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
John

Seems odd as they advertise 1.5-4" cutting height. My old Cub could be lifted to 4.5" if I remember correctly. Have you actually measured?

Yes. Prior to contacting cub or the dealer, and of course the original post, measurements were taken and verified at the front middle and back of deck accounting for minimal rake per manufacture spec using distance between cutting edge and flat cement surface. The advertised 4" clearance is not attainable as a cutting height but can be approached only at the back edge of the deck using an increased rake (which lowers the overall cut).
