I have a couple Toro LX500s and a GT2100, all have 50" decks, bought the GT2100 thinking as a parts machine, but ended up using it to mow. The Toro 50" decks are different between the LX500 and GT2100, in that the rear lift links are higher for the GT2100 than the LX500 models, one of my LX500 decks was toast. I believe these were all manufactured by MTD, some other brands were as well and nearly identical. I bought a couple of used/abused Cub Cadets, one had a 46" deck, that was nearly identical to the 50" Toro from the LX500. The only difference I've discovered so far it the "leading link" the attachment from the front of the rider to the deck. I was able to modify the Toro link to accept the Cub Cadet, strung the drive belt and have been mowing with it this afternoon, seems like it is going to work. Price of a new deck if available would have been prohibitive.

The two main manufacturers of homeowner riders that I am aware of is AYP and MTD. They stamp and fabricate most rider components for many private label brands on the market.

The engines and transmissions come from a variety of vendors and are built to specifications for different product lines.

With some models only the paint colors and stickers are the only main difference.

Yes, many parts are interchangeable with little effort to adapt them.
