I got ready to prepare my Scag Tiger Cub STC52A-23KA for spring and it will not start.
Nothing when I turn the key.
Battery is fully charged.
Mower electric clutch engages and disengages when key is on.
The brakes and starting switches all fine.
The motor doesn't crank.
If I unplug the motor harness and jump from one terminal to the other, the engine cranks.
Any ideas what is going on in between?
Thanks for your help.

Under the control panel and close to the key switch is the cranking relay. When all the safety circuits are in correct position and functioning properly, the electronic control module will ground the cranking relay and allow power from the key switch when in the start position to energize the engine cranking solenoid and crank over the engine.
The safety circuit items are, parking brake, L/H and R/H control levers, seat switch and the PTO switch when in the off position.
As the cranking relay has a diode in its circuit, you need to replace it with the same type.

Safety switch problem some place. Make sure the parking brake, and direction controls are in the proper starting position. Could also be related to the seat switch, or the control box.
