I have a sears 917.287251 Lawn tractor that needs a brake actuating lever 4071035 which Dana and Sears Parts Direct says is discontinued. Where can I get one of these parts?

If I can't is there some way to add a brake to the tractor or make a different brake for the trans-axle or mower?
