I own a John Deere D100 (19.5HP B&S) that ran perfectly for over a year and now refuses to start. When I crank it it'll fire initially (for about 1/2 second) but then won't run. After the initial attempt, the engine won't fire at all.
I've changed the fuel filter and tested the fuel pump's output, which appears good. I just cranked it to check the spark plug - didn't see any spark. I tried a new plug, same result.
K first thought is the coil.......but on the newer 100 series mowers if the hour meter craps out it wont start due to no spark...to narrow out the fuel system for sure though give it a mist of fuel in the intake and see if she fires......if it starts then you know its a fuel issue....if not its somewherez else, valves, electrical etc....did you have plug grounded when you tested the spark?
