Cutting Grass in the heat of the day

I enjoy cutting both my grass and the Ruritan yard in the heat of the day. I find that the grass is stretching to reach the sky. I start from one end of the lawn and keep moving the clippings to the other side of the yard which gives a nice manicured looking lawn. At about 3/4 the way across the lawn I do a relief cut about 6’ from the last row and raise my grass deflection guard with a bungee then continue to keep pushing the clippings the same direction. By the time that I get to the other side having the deflection guard raised not many clippings are left along the edge. Last two times I was cutting for the Ruritan yard a zero turn was across the road and it was just zipping thru the grass real quick finishing before I did by about 20 minutes but the end job their grass was all over the place it might have been cut but it looked terrible with clippings all over the place. I guess it was because it was really hot and they wanted to make their money and get outa there. There just seemed to be a lack of pride in the way they did it. My grass cutting between both mine and the Ruritan yards is about 8 acres which is why I enjoy using my 07 John Deere 1545 with the 72” flex deck and the air conditioned cab.

Using my X350 I do similar in an area where the grass excels in the growth department. Not so much for appearance but because I needed mulch for my pepper and tomato plants. I've engineered a simple way to over ride the reverse without molesting any wires or switches which allows forward and a fast reverse to make wind rows. After a few passes a lawn rake is required but it's a small area so by the time the old man gets his heart rate up and breaks a little sweat I'm dun.

Looks like you developed a simple system and it works
