Hi Folks:
First time on a forum with only moderate mechanical skills, so I'll apologize up front for not knowing the proper etiquette and being a little bit slow on understanding the complicated stuff.
I have an older (1999) Cub Z-54 zero turn mower that has developed a transmission problem on the right side; I had a buddy do a quick review and he痴 fairly certain that the trans is shot. His quick test was that he could roll the individual right tire but he couldn稚 move the left side (with Hydraulic release levers in the locked position meaning tire should not freely roll).
If there are other ways to test this please let me know.
So here痴 where I知 at, the engine runs really good and only has about #450 hrs. on it and everything else is in decent shape, I hate giving up on the old mower until I make a reasonable attempt to try and fix it.
My buddy痴 advice was first that the Hyd trans are expensive ($400-600 each) and second it痴 been his experience that if you fix one you should also replace the other because they won稚 both be operating at the same pressure.
Does the diagnostic make sense? Do you folks agree with cost and replacing both? Is there a company that rebuilds these?
I知 realistic but I hate giving up the ship.
I appreciate your help, thank you!
