Hello. I recently purchased a new RZT S. Mowing has been great on my hilly lawn up until the last time I mowed. A few days after I mowed, I noticed my grass starting to die. I didn't think much of it since we haven't had rain in a while and we've had the hottest days of the year recently. Today I looked at it and I have distinct tracks of dead/dying sod. Anyone have problems like this? It's almost like the pumps are too hot and are burning the grass. It does have the new pieces added to redirect the muffler(thanks to you guys! My dealer didn't know anything about it). In the photo, you can see I was mowing diagonal this time with the exception of two passes along the road to start. I plan to bring this up to my dealer, but since they didn't know about the exhaust problem I don't have much faith in them coming up with a solution. Any help appreciated.

The only time I seen something like that is if someone sprayed Roundup and maybe drove into it when the grass was wet.

The muffler will do this if you let the mower sit hot for a time.

Roundup....yes I have seen that before too. No round up this time though. I wasn't sitting either. Really strange.

I'm lost for words.

Send a pic to cadet tec, I'm sure they will have a answer, ( It won't be the mowers fault ) LOL

Something's goin on in that area. It appears to only be in foreground and fade out togood grass.
And I thought round up too. But like I said it would keep going across the lawn.

Did any gas, oil or soap get spilled on the gravel driveway were you turned around

I don't think anything was spilled in the road. It' a chip and seal road that was re coated last year. Even so you can see that I was mowing diagonal and coming toward the road the tires should have been "cleaned off" before the turn around. If it was every other pass, I could see it as something in the road. The width almost tells me its the pumps also. I think a combination of things happened. Fairly hot day when I mowed. Little rain. The area is the highest point of my lawn. My lawn is pretty hilly. It doesnt just slope toward the back. It rolls and pitches away to the neighbors lot line.
This is a new house and I originally had a z force 42 zero turn. After taking a ride, I purchased this RZT S. I've mowed with it in every direction now. That was the first time diagonal and this was the result. Since this happened I mowed horizontal with no ill effects.
Probably worth mentioning this is new old stock 2012 mower. Any known problems with the 2012 model other than the exhaust(which has been corrected)?

What is cadet tec?

Thanks for the replies fellas!!

Cub Cadet technical service is group of MTD employees that are trouble shooters for the dealers. It's Mtd Products Inc Corporate Office & Headquarters. The best way to get your pic to them is to go to your dealership and ask them to contact cadet technical.

It looks like something was there before and cutting brought it back. The reason I think this is because of you two passes next to the road. It starts abruptly and fades out. Same applies for your diagonal cuts.

I would dig a small patch out and see if the soil smells funny...IE oil, gas, roundup.

I don't think this is a mower issue unless you didn't screw the gas cap all the way and sloshed fuel around and out of the tank. Was there more fuel used during this cut than the last?

I see this every time I mow, wet or dry where I make turns. I've tried turning slower thinking that was the problem, but it was not. Any
suggestions?
